The Residential Real Estate Development division develops medium-sized residential real estate projects in Belgium (focus on South-East region) and the Grand-Duchy of Luxemburg. It sells to third parties and acts as a feeder for our own Residential Real Estate Investment division.
The Real Estate Projects division originated mainly out of the historic transport and logistics business, both in terms of types of buildings and geographically.
The Real Estate Projects division originated mainly out of the historic transport and logistics business, both in terms of types of buildings (focus on industrial, semi-industrial and related office projects) and geographically. Weerts Group made its first footprint in Hungary in the early nineties when it built (and operated) Danone’s first warehouse in Budapest (Hungary) and moved into Romania together with Carrefour, one of its key transport clients in Belgium following the acquisition of Carrefour’s internal transport division (Supertransport) and McDonalds (Havi Logistics).
In recent years, the focus has been on setting up strong teams to support its developments in CEE.
Between 1999 and 2009, Weerts Group developed ca. 120,000 sqm of big boxes in Bierset, Liège and ca. 70,000 sqm on the Hauts Sarts industrial zone in Liège, all of which were sold to institutional investors (ING Real Estate, Montea etc.).
In Q3 2018, Weerts Group completed the first phase of a new logistics warehouse development of 35,000 sqm in Milmort (Liège). A further extenstion and construction of an additional 30,000 sqm on the same site are starting in Q4 2018.
Unirii View offers 17,500 sqm of the most visible, highest quality Class A office space in the heart of Bucharest (Romania). Positioned in the largest commercial area of the city, Unirii View is the tallest building in Unirii Square. Unirii View was delivered in Q3 2018.
In 2008 the group constructed a 20,000 sqm logistics warehouse for Carrefour in Deva (Romania), with a 5,000 sqm extension for Havi Logistics (McDonalds) in 2011/2012. Deva Logistics Center was sold to CTP in 2015.
In 2018, Weerts Real Estate Hungary completed the first phase (16,000 sqm) of semi-industrial buildings sold as SME-units in Budapest (Hungary) (website: www.raktarad.hu). A second phase (20,000 sqm) will be launched in Q4 2018).
